This Camp Ocean Pines wedding in Cambria, CA, was a celebration of love. Including the most fun-filled wedding day activities! Megan and Ally’s summer camp-themed wedding included axe throwing, archery, a climbing wall, and a dancefloor packed with those they love. The outdoor activities were all surrounded by pine forests with a dash of ocean air, adding a layer of whimsy to the romantic yet intentional wedding day that Megan and Ally planned.
In fact, Megan was a high school classmate of mine! When I first heard from her and Ally, I was overjoyed at the news that they were getting married, and beyond honored that they asked me to photograph every sweet moment. When their wedding day arrived, I was even more thrilled to see some of our other classmates in attendance as guests. Everyone was there to celebrate the love that Megan and Ally share, but we were also excited to be with each other after many years apart.

Heartfelt Camp Ocean Pines LGBTQ Wedding
As the name denotes, Camp Ocean Pines in Cambria is an actual youth summer camp. But it’s also a remarkable wedding venue. One that offers an outdoor amphitheater-style space for wedding ceremonies. Post-ceremony dinner and dancing unfold throughout the evening at a cozy indoor space.
The outdoor amphitheater at Camp Ocean Pines is an earthy and serene location lying squarely under towering trees. All in all, the ceremony space is its own unique brand of magic. It features plenty of seating for guests and a surrounding panoramic forest view.
A Wedding Ceremony Under the Trees
After their flower pup led the way down the aisle, Megan and Ally walked arm-in-arm to their awaiting ceremony. This beautifully symbolic moment drove at the heart of Megan and Ally’s relationship and how they choose to journey through life together, side by side.
As their ceremony began, it was evident that their intentional vows and traditional hand-fasting ceremony were enchanting affirmations of the love that Megan and Ally share.
Once they were pronounced as married, the newlyweds exited their ceremony the same way they came in, together. But this time, laughter, a few stolen kisses, and even a newlywed dip added a layer of bubbly joy to the air.
Following a few throws of the axe and a round of archery, I explored Camp Ocean Pines with Megan & Ally for their wedding photos. There was something in the atmosphere that day. From the soft breeze blowing through the trees to the tranquil setting of the coastal forest. It was a palpable feeling that set the tone for the images we created. But also one that followed everyone into the party that evening.
Soft lighting, warm tones, heartfelt speeches, and an abundance of love were all overflowing that night. Needs to say Megan and Ally’s reception ended the day all wrapped up in love.
