This Avila Beach wedding was a family-focused celebration with a laid-back vibe. Courtney and Jons’s wedding ceremony and reception took place at Avila Beach Golf Resort. A beautifully vibrant wedding venue (which also doubles as a concert venue). The space is nestled along the San Luis Creek as well as Avila Beach. In fact, the San Luis Creek feeds right into the ocean, making this wedding venue an idyllic location for any couple who wants to say I do with a picturesque view of the coast.
The panoramic views of the ocean at Avila Beach Golf Resort are only the beginning of the features at this stunning wedding venue. The resort offers couples indoor and outdoor options for planning their wedding, including a cocktail hour on the terrace overlooking the beach! Additionally, the Avila Beach Golf Resort offers those planning a wedding use of its fire pit and lawn games. It’s easy to see why Courtney and Jon chose this gorgeous yet accommodating wedding venue for their vows.
Along with their laid-back approach, Courtney and Jon planned a wedding with a far-out 60s & 70s chic retro aesthetic. The details of this aesthetic were found in every element of their reception. Guests were greeted with a welcome sign and seating chart that displayed a fun bubbly vintage font. It was a ‘groovy’ way to kick off the festivities and prepare guests for the epic celebration that awaited.

The nighttime celebration included live music from a country-rock band out of Bakersfield. Once the band started, they got everyone up and groovin’, including all of the littles in attendance. It was beyond adorable to see the way this family came together, not only on the dance floor but in celebration of Courtney and Jon’s vows.
After Courtney and Jon’s ceremony, I was eager to work with the newlyweds on their photography experience. I noticed that close to their venue there was a geometric bridge over the creek. It was the perfect location for working on stunning sunset portraits. Courtney and Jon were so elated and absolute naturals in front of the camera. Their joy was as vivacious as their whole retro theme. After some time alone together on the bridge, including a few twirls, they were ready to join their guests on the lawn of Avila Beach Golf Resort for their wedding reception.
I hung back for a bit capturing the details of their reception and some joyous moments of their family gathering on the dance floor. I made my way out just as night began to fall and the party was winding down. But I have to admit, being in the presence of Courtney and Jon, along with those they cherish left me with a full heart. The love shared by all in attendance was palpable and being around such sweet folks made me grateful for the time I was able to spend in their presence.
