Emily & James’ See Canyon Fruit Ranch wedding was a laid-back, family-centered day. They forewent all of the traditional items you’d expect on a wedding reception timeline and swapped them out for fun activities instead.
I first started working with Emily and James for their rehearsal ceremony. I put together some simple coverage of their practice run and during that time I could easily see what a fun easy-going couple they are! Capturing their rehearsal also gave me a feel for their venue, the See Canyon Fruit Ranch. It’s located in the canyon, and full of lush greenery with antique farm equipment tucked away in the corners.
When their wedding day arrived, Emily & James were all smiles. In addition to that, I also noticed how relaxed and involved their family and friends were. There were kids playing kickball on the lawn and horsing around with their favorite uncle. There were games of cornhole going on with beers in hand, and guests were shooting hoops out in the lot.

The table tops at Emily & James’ reception were elegantly put together with displays of tea roses, gold cutlery, and stemware for each drink service. Their elegant decor sat side by side with fun Star Wars coloring books, Pikachu connect the dots, bubbles, and cameras for their guests to take part in capturing the fun moments of their day as they unfolded!
But, there were still two more fun elements in store for Emily, James, and their guests! The first was a super cool vintage ice cream truck, that pulled up to their reception, called SLO Mama Sweets. Everyone got to relive a small piece of their childhood and pick out their favorite frozen treat to snack on. Finally, the last fun element for the night was a sparkler exit. Emily & James’ guests formed two lines for the couple to walk through, with sparklers lit in hand to wish them well on their newlywed journey. Scroll through the blog below to see!
